View from the cabin of the plane on the lake.

something we don't take for granted these days...the sun!!! view of the kitchen table and the bunkbeds in the back.....the cooking stove where we will bake Amelia's birthday cake!!!!! #6

We are really looking forward to some time away from "hectic Cantwell"!!! God willing and weather permitting we will depart Wednesday on snowmachines to ride about 65 miles out to this cabin for a few weeks. Thanks to some great friends who are helping out with the kids while we get out there and others who will help out on the return......and thanks to our friend that owns the cabin and has been gracious to let us use it! Lance and I will ride machines with a friend out on Wednesday and then I will stay at the cabin while Lance gets a ride back in with our friend Will on the snowmachine. He will pick up the kids where they are spending the night with the Albers Family and then fly them out on Thursday.......If it all works, we will spend a few weeks out in this great location trapping, skiing, ice fishing and just relaxing and enjoying each other! stay tuned for a report of the adventure!!!

A recent snowmachine trip that Lance and I went on up the Jack River. We found two nice moose antlers laying right in the middle of the trail and saw other moose still carrying antlers....(they usually start falling off around Thanksgiving). It was an overcast day with a little light snow but was really a fun trip. It is so good to get out and enjoy the beauty around us.......This ice fall was right by the trail and looked pretty neat.

We have been having some cold temps lately. It was -35 for a couple days and I was tired of being house bound other than hauling some firewood.....so I went out for a ski and realised that with the proper gear, I was actually sweating! It's just important to keep your face protected with a neck gaitor.......Amelia had wanted to go skiing with me but I knew it was too cold so I promised her a moonlight walk before bed. We ended up staying outside for about 45 minutes at -35 and they never complained of being cold. We went out on the river and layed down on our backs gazing up at the stars and moon and then went for a little walk out on the lake.........

These photos are from New Year's Eve at our friends Sam and Berta's house. They live on a lake and the kids ride snowmachines all over. They are finally at the age that we can turn them loose, with the supervision of a few older kids. Reid is in the middle of the first photo with snow packed in around his goggles. He had so much fun with the older boys......
