We came home from our fishing trip and found this broccoli in the garden! lots of rain and not much sunshine but things continue to grow.... now we will have a bunch of salmon in the freezer too! The harvesting has been great...and now the blueberries are getting ripe and hunting season is approaching. The midnight sun is going down though.....winter will be here before we know it......

Our friend chuck reeled in a salmon in his big net! and the kids looked on in delight! the second photo is just the "scene" on the beach...lots of seagulls, dipnets and fishermen!

The sandy mouth twins.....Hayden and Canyon....they were great troopers to camp on the beach for a week and eat sand! What cuties!!! and the happy hoola hoopers!!! Amelia and Saige....

The kids and I with a bucket of fish! Our camp....Lora's on the left and ours on the right....it was combat fishing and camping as the beach was full of people!!!

Our friend Jeff cleaning the fish on the ironing board cleaning table that Lance made us! All the fish cleaners on the beach were envious of our fish table! Reid and Amelia holding the catch....Red salmon!!!!

We decided to get ambitious and hike Flag Mountain overlooking the Hunter Creek mine. If you look close you can see the trailers to the right of us.....way....down...below. The kids both hiked the entire way on their own two feet. It only took us 33 minutes to ascend...but who's counting!!! Amelia and Reid both proved to be mountain goats...... you can see in the photo above how steep the climb was.....Mount McKinley in their future??? I am one proud mama!

Reid holding the 11 ounce nugget that was found at the Hunter Creek mine by our friends' last year....Jim with a pan of gold that we didn't get to keep!!!!

It was a thrill to be at our friend's gold mine near the Yukon river. We drove 2.5 hours to Fairbanks, then another 3 hours to Eureka and got shuttled in the cub to the mine.....only a 20 minute flight. we spent 4 days there ove the 4th of July. These photos show an excavator loading gravel into the sluice box. The big rocks roll off the top, the smaller stuff gets tumbled in the barrel and the gold settles on the carpet as seen above....we are picking nuggets off the carpet.....

Airplanes!!! Lance shuttled Troy and Reid and ME and Amelia to a little airstrip in the cub to get out of the mine.....Amelia, Reid, Gma and Gpa flew with some others in a Caravan into the mine.....the kids enjoyed all the flying!

This photo is of this winter when Lance started cutting the trees....same spot in the photo above when he finished the job.....what a difference and a lot of work. Thanks to the bobcat, the excavator above and the work of Lance and Troy. We now have a small pond and alot of gravel to move to the new hangar lot and house spot.......

These are the proud new owners of a bright and shiny purple dump truck! Lance decided the dump trailer and pickup weren't going to haul the amount of gravel we have so he found this to hopefully do the job!!! The kids loved the test ride and they big air horn!
