The yard is covered in Fireweed right now...we have been harvesting like crazy for Fireweed jelly, right out the front door!!!!....these are a couple of radishes and carrots from the garden. Things are growing really well....I'm sure would be better if I took time to care for it...I just water and harvest once a week for the market...not much time for weeding!

These are just a few of the recent photos from the dirtwork that Lance and Troy did on the hangar property.. we rented equipment out of Fairbanks and Troy ran it for us because he is way more efficient than Lance. They found a lot of mud and muck and not as much gravel as we had hoped for. We will have to buy more gravel in the Fall and hope to build a hangar for the airplane next summer.......always takes longer and costs more...that's life!

My friend Lora just had twins and the kids really enjoyed holding them on a trip to Fairbanks a couple of weeks ago.....they would make great big brother and sister....but it's not going to happen!!!! sorry, Jim!!! Canyon and Hayden are their names.....they are very cute!

Mama's packing protection because the last time Lance flew some friends to this fishing spot they got run off by a big bear....It wouldn't leave them alone and kept coming close so Lance actually had to get in the plane and buzz the bear to scare it out of the area....so needless to say I was on the alert with my bear spray on one hip and my .357 on the other. To show you how quick something can sneak up on you....we were cleaning the fish and the kids were having a snack in the edge of the grass and I heard a splash in the creek and stood up to see a bull Caribou within 30 feet of us...good thing it wasn't the bear!

This was such a fun day! It was really smoky in Cantwell due to some fires but the air was calm so we all packed in the plane and flew out to a favorite grayling fishing hole.....Reid got to use his new "Cars" fishing pole for the first time! He was totally into it...he kept saying.."me catch big fish, huh dad!!!" We must have caught 25 fish that day but we threw alot of them back...we kept enough for dinner for us and gave some to a friend...Reid is hooked. Now he wants his fishing pole every day.....

This is from one of our recent fun, hot, summer days on the Yanert River.....the kids had a blast! They loved the mud the most and Reid burried himself in the sand! This is the most that we have been in bathing suits since we have been in Alaska! Fun!
