Friday we flew out to a friend's hunting camp up Moody Creek. It's about a 25 minute flight and the kids had a great time in the plane! When we landed, Lance discovered a flat tail wheel and had to leave us there while he flew back to Cantwell to fix it. Thanks to Ray and Diane, they had a spare tube on hand and in 2 hours Lance was back with us. We hiked up river Friday afternoon and found some moose antler sheds that we had seen from the air. The kids enjoyed hot dogs and marshmallows around the camp fire. Amelia got to sleep in her new sleeping bag that she got this winter..... Saturday we hiked up river again and the kids and I played on the river for 3 hours while Lance hike up river much further for more moose antlers......it was a good time had by all!!!!

Below are a bunch of pictures from Lance's trip to Kotzebue a month ago. He spent three weeks flying around the icy, snowy, cold, windy world up north capturing Musk ox. Lance's job was to fly a biologist around and find groups of musk-ox and radio to the helicopter as to what the location of the group was. The helicopter would then dart one of the musk ox in the group and tag it with a collar, and take blood samples, check the condition of the teeth, etc. for research purposes. A biologist riding as a passenger in the helicopter hangs out of the door and shoots the tranquilizer into the musk-ox. ( A pretty exciting job!) There are some great photos here to show how much snow and wind Kotzebue had in a recent storm right before Lance arrived. There were 20+ foot drifts all over town!)
